Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on downland, rough ground and damp meadows throughout much of England. In Hampshire recorded on just three occasions in recent years. Between 1st and 6th October 1979, two were found on Teg Down, Winchester, and one on the Leckford Estate, but there have been no reported occurrences since, and none on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-10 mm. Larva feeds within seedheads of Wild Carrot, Burnet-saxifrage, Wild Angelica and Ground-elder, over-wintering as a pupa in a cocoon.
