Local on moorland and heathland throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire virtually unknown outside the New Forest, with one old record from Woolmer Forest and one from northern Hampshire, near Andover, in 2001. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 10-13 mm. A fairly distinctive, plain, ochreous-yellow moth. Larva mines leaves of Purple Moor-grass, False-brome and False Oat-grass.
