Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in grain from southern Europe in barns, warehouses and granaries, where it can become established, also has the potential to appear as a migrant on the south coast. In Hampshire recorded for the first time at Southsea on 28 July 1995. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 11-19 mm. Quite similar to other gelechiids, especially some Metzneria. Larva feeds within seeds of Wheat and Maize, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas.
