Extinct in the British Isles, formerly on chalk and limestone downland in parts of southern England. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Very similar to S. fallacella from which separable only with great care. Larva feeds on Common Rock-rose, living within a silken tube or tent.
