Recorded infrequently through accidental importation from oak woodland in North America. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 18-22 mm. Larva mines buds of Oak, Red Maple, Apple and Witch Hazel, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
