Nationally scarce (Nb) in bogs in parts of England and Wales. In Hampshire locally common in the wetter bogs of the New Forest, elsewhere appears to be resident in the Bordon area (vice-county 12). Very rare in the Isle of Wight, most recently in 2010. Wingspan 18-23 mm. Looks whiter than other Crambus in flight, and distinguished by broad white median longitudinal streak which touches costa to half-way [Goater]. Larva feeds on various grasses, living within a silken tube or tent.
