Nationally scarce (Na) in mountains in parts of the Scottish Highlands, northern Wales and the Lake District. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 19-23 mm. The only other Catoptria species with an unbroken median longitudinal stripe is C. margaritella, which see for differences. Larva feeds on various grasses.
