Nationally scarce (Nb) in open ground and grassy hollows above 350 m on mountains in the Scottish Highlands. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 25-31 mm. Wing-shape typical of the genus, but wings virtually plain light greyish brown. Day-flying. Larva feeds on Common Ragwort.
