Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in rough meadows and waste ground in parts of southern England, but distribution very imperfectly known in Britain. From the Isle of Wight there are a number of old records, but these are vague and on the mainland, known only from Hengistbury Head (in the political county of Dorset). Wingspan 16-21 mm. The least well understood of the British members of the group, and evidently confused in the past with P. saxicola in particular [Goater]. Larva feeds within flowerheads of Yarrow, Common Ragwort and Yellow Chamomile.
