A vulnerable Red Data Book species, breeding in grassland and along the edges of woodland in a few sites in Kent, in particular at Folkestone Warren and Hamstreet. Also occurring increasingly as an immigrant from mainland Europe on the southern coast of England. On the Isle of Wight, one at Freshwater in August 1994, followed by one in Hayling Island in 2014. Wingspan 29-34 mm. The angled cross-lines are characteristic, although could be confused with the much smaller Rosy Wave S. emutaria. Larva feeds on Smooth Tare, Tormentil and Traveller's-joy.
