Local in woodland rides, gardens and hedgerows, and on chalk downland throughout southern England. Widespread and fairly common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 23-25 mm. Possible confusion species include f. fimbriolata of Small Fan-footed Wave I. biselata, and Single-dotted Wave I. dimidiata, which see. Larva feeds on withered leaves of Ivy.
