Common on moorland, grassland, woodland and heathland, in western England, Scotland and Ireland, generally restricted to uplands. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 24-26 mm. Fairly unmistakable. Larva feeds on Heath Bedstraw, over-wintering as a pupa.
