Common on rocky mountain-sides and high moorland, in northern England and Scotland, a species of conservation concern under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 32-41 mm. Similar to Yellow-ringed Carpet E. flavicinctata, which has median and subterminal bands covered with yellow scales. Larva feeds on Heather and Bilberry.
