A vulnerable Red Data Book species, in damp woodland, around Lake Windermere and Coniston Water in the Lake District, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 24-28 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Touch-me-not Balsam, over-wintering as a pupa.
