This small, brown, pug is scattered locally across central and northern England, Scotland and parts of Ireland, in fens, marshes, damp meadows, sand-dunes and waste ground. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 14-16 mm. Fairly unmistakable. Larva feeds on flowers and seeds of Field Mouse-ear, over-wintering as a pupa.
