Local in broad-leaved woodland throughout much of England, Wales and southern Scotland. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight local amongst aspen, although found occasionally in localities where this tree is absent, where it is likely to be associated with other species of poplar. Wingspan 29-32 mm. Fairly unmistakable. Larva feeds on Aspen and Black Poplar, over-wintering as a pupa.
