First recorded in Britain in Sussex in 2014, with a handful of records subsequently. While its stated range is the mountains of southern Europe, as well as on the Balkan Peninsula and the Caucasus, an increase of numbers of stragglers into northern Europe indicate a potential expansion of range, and it is not impossible that this could result in a resident population in Britain in due course. The larva lives on Pinus or Picea sp. on the continent. The adults fly in one or two generations a year; from June till the end of September.
