69.0061 [B&F: 1977] Wild Cherry Sphinx (Sphinx drupiferarum) (Smith, 1797)


Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in produce from North America, one was attracted to light at Weston-super- Mare, Somerset on 21 May 1965. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 75-115 mm. Larva feeds on Apple, Plum, Wild Cherry and Lilac; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
