Common in woodland, hedgerows and gardens throughout the British Isles. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 42-52 mm. Could be confused with the very rare immigrant Three-humped Prominent N. tritophus, which see. Larva feeds on Sallow and Willow, over-wintering as a pupa.
