Main: (Noctuidae / Xyleninae)
73.117 [B&F: 2252a] Cameo (Crypsedra gemmea) (Treitschke, 1825)

Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from northern Europe, appearing in southern England just once, at Cockpole Green, Berkshire, in September 1979. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 42-44 mm. The most likely confusion species is White Spot Hadena albimacula, but it is generally smaller, without a greenish tint and its white marks are less extensive, with a white central block rather than an extra oval. Larva feeds on various grasses, including Tufted Hair-grass and Timothy, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
