Classification

Family:Noctuidae
Subfamily:Condicinae
Genus:Eucarta
Species:virgo
Authority:(Treitschke, 1835)

Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in soil or soft fruit plants. Recorded only once in Britain, at Bodenham, Herefordshire on 29 June 2006. The circumstance of this record, in an area in which farming practices include regular importation of plants and topsoil, casts some doubts over the origin of the species. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 30-34 mm. It is unlikely that records of this species will be accepted unless the specimen is retained for examination. Larva feeds on Mugwort, Willow, Dandelion, Tansy and Mint, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
