A species with a disjointed distribution, found across southern England and from Lancashire northwards to Cumberland and Durham. In Hampshire there are a few scattered records and recorded once from the Isle of Wight at Shanklin in 1973, but not since. Wingspan 4.5-5.5 mm. The adult is metallic bronze and gold fasciae and purplish sheen, wingspan 4.5 to 6mm, but records will only be accepted if bred from mines or dissected. The larvae causes a blotch mine on the leaves of agrimony and cinquefoil (Potentilla) species, in two generations.
