Naturalised, through accidental introduction. First discovered in Britain in October 2006, when unidentified mines were found in a hybrid Elm (Sapporo 'Autumn Gold') at a park in Farnham, Surrey. When bred through, these proved to be
B. ulmifoliae, a species new to Britain, formerly considered conspecific with
B. albedinella. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-9 mm. Larva mines leaves of Elm, over-wintering as a pupa.
