Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in open grassland, hedgerows and parks in parts of England, where more numerous in the south-east. In Hampshire recorded only once to date, at Farnborough in August 1996. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-11.5 mm. Similar to C. viscariella
, C. alsinella
and C. junctella
, from which differs in the shape of the fuscous blotch and the angle it makes with the costa. Larva feeds on flowers and seeds of Common Mouse-ear and Common Chickweed.
