A widespread but local species in mainland Europe from Scandinavia, to Iberia and the Mediterranean, across to Russia. New to the British Isles (in the widest sense) from Guernsey in 2022. Similar to a number of other Coleophora, being grey-brown with white veins along the costa and dark ringed antennae, and genitalic dissection will be required. The larva feeds on ruptureworts (Herniaria sp. in a silken case covered in grains of sand.
