Authority:(Clerck, 1759)

Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species). The first confirmed records in Britain were from East Sussex in 1977 and 1983. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-19 mm. Superficially this species resembles lightly marked yellowish forms of Clepsis spectrana, it can, however, be readily distinguished by venational differences in the forewing; in P. gnomana veins 7 and 8 are stalked from near the middle, whereas in Clepsis spectrana veins 7 and 8 are separate [Bradley]. Larva polyphagous on various deciduous trees and herbaceous plants, living within a spun or rolled leaf.
