Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in cut flowers. A specimen was bred in April 1960 from a larva found in anemones and jonquils the previous February. The flowers were purchased from a London florist and were imported from the south of France. The species is indigenous to the Mediterranean sub-region, ranging from Palestine and southern Europe to Morocco and the Canary Islands. In the Mediterranean region the moth is on the wing from March to June. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date.
