An endangered Red Data Book species, on shingle beaches and undercliffs at two locations in Kent, the best known being at Folkstone Warren, protected under the UK Wildlife and Countryside Act, and a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. In Hampshire there is one old record, from Haslar in 1851, and further records in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight must be unlikely. Wingspan 15-23 mm. Day-flying. Disturbance to the insect, including searching for this species through the use of pheromone lure, is illegal. Larva feeds within roots of Common Sorrel, Sheep's Sorrel and Dock, over-wintering at lea1st once.
