Nationally scarce (Nb) on heathland, bogs and saltmarshes in parts of southern England, eastern England and southern Wales, predominantly coastal. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight found in two distinct habitats, in the coastal salterns and in boggy areas of the New Forest, where it is rather uncommon. Wingspan 23-26 mm. Similar to
Sub-angled Wave S. nigropunctata, but much smaller. Larva feeds on various herbaceous plants.
