Local in oak woodland throughout much of England and Wales. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight still widespread and locally common, but less numerous on the chalk. Wingspan 25-32 mm. Fairly unmistakable, but worn, faded specimens could be confused with second generation Clay Triple-lines C. linearia, which see. Larva feeds on Pedunculate and Sessile Oak, over-wintering as a pupa.
