Common in broad-leaved woodland, scrubby heathland and fens throughout the British Isles. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 30-34 mm. A distinctive early spring geometer, perhaps confusable only with
Seraphim Lobophora halterata, but Early Tooth-striped is larger and greyer, with cross-lines weaker. Larva feeds on Sallow, Silver and Downy Birch, Honeysuckle and Alder, over-wintering as a pupa.
