Recent colonist and immigrant, in coniferous woodland and plantations in parts of south-eastern England. First recorded in Britain in July 1981, when found in numbers in Orlestone Forest in Kent, and subsequently recorded in Essex, West Sussex and Surrey. The first record in Hampshire was one at light on 26 July 2013, with a Pigmy Footman caught in the same trap. Another was surprisingly caught, new to VC12, in 2022. Wingspan 38-44 mm. Can be confused with both Willow Beauty P. rhomboidaria, which has a pale apical patch on the underside of the forewing, and Lydd Beauty P. ilicaria, which has postmedian fascia on hindwing parallel with dorsum (the fascia meets the apex on Feathered Beauty). Larva feeds on Norway Spruce.
