Common wherever there are coniferous trees throughout the British Isles. Widespread and fairly common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 32-44 mm. Occasional green individuals of the form f. prasinaria
, which can be confused with Light Emerald Campaea margaritata
, are reported. Larva feeds on various coniferous trees, including Scots Pine, Norway Spruce and European Larch.
