Local in damp woodland, fens, damp meadows and boggy heathland throughout England and Wales, and also in the Scottish Highlands. Widespread and locally common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 19-22 mm. Small size suggests a species of micromoth, but most resembles White-line Snout S. taenialis
. Larva feeds on Heather, Wild Marjoram and Wild Thyme.
